How They Got Here: Wake Forest

Wake Forest comes into the Duke’s Mayo Bowl at 4-4 this season and 3-4 in the ACC. Despite a high powered offense, the Demon Deacons couldn’t manage much success. Wake Forest scored 35 or more points in 5 of 5 games this season. Their 37 points per game was good enough for 19th in the entire country, this season. They would be higher if it wasn’t for 5 teams that played 7 games or less that are ahead of them on the schedule.

How They Got Here: Wisconsin

A disappointing campaign for Wisconsin, the Badgers look to continue their current streak of 18 straight seasons of being over .500 and make it 19. Paul Chryst’s tenure has seen a lot of winning for the Badgers so a season with a lot of stumbling has frustrated Badger fans. Not having top wideouts Danny Davis and Kendric Pryor for a majority of the season has hurt the Badgers offense.

Biggest Matchup

This game is going to come down to the Badgers defense and the Wake Forest offense. The Badgers have allowed less than 100 yards in their 6 games this season on the ground. Their rushing defense ranked 5th in the country. With the Demon Deacons averaging 43 carries a game between a two horse tandem, the game is going to be won in the trenches.

Bets and Predictions

The biggest questions in this game is if the Badgers are healthy. Will Graham Mertz start? Are running back Jalen Berger, and wide receivers Danny Davis and Kendric Pryor playing? If so, I like the Badgers. However, the game is being played a mere hour and fifteen minutes from the Wake Forest campus.

As of 1:00 PM Central on Tuesday, our friends at BUSR have the line at -7.5 for the Badgers. The point total is 51.5. If you see the number get to Badgers -6.5, I like it. However, 51.5 points is too high. Especially if Wisconsin’s offensive studs don’t play. Also, there is a current point total, but Wake Forest’s team total, go under.
