2020 New York Jets Season Outlook:
New York finished with a 7-9 in 2019, which was their highest win total since 2015 (10-6). To be honest, New York really doesn’t look like they made too many changes to try and turn their season around. Yeah, you can consider a couple of players brought in, like Frank Gore and Chris Hogan, a good addition but nothing sticks out. Don’t be surprised if the Jets follow up 2019 with another 7-9 season.
Win Total (Over/Under):
As stated in the section above, it’s going to take a miracle for the Jets to finish above .500 on the season. If you want to risk it for the biscuit, and really push the luck, put some money on over 7.5 wins on the season. If you’re looking for the safe route, if there’s any with New York, put the green on under 8 wins.
Fantasy Player to Watch:
Most people are going to answer this question with Le’Veon Bell, but looking at their roster that’s the wrong answer. The safest option is most likely Jamison Crowder as he’s about to start his second season in New York and has chemistry with Darnold. But you should go with either Breshad Perriman or rookie Denzel Mims. In Perriman’s 2019 campaign, he notched career highs in receptions (36), targets (70), yards (645), and touchdowns (6). Before that, the 26-year-old’s highest numbers in his career were 33 receptions, 66 targets, 499 yards, and three touchdowns.
The Jets drafted Denzel Mims out of Baylor in the second round of this year’s draft, and he has the potential to become the WR1 of the team in the future. At 6’3”, the WR provides a huge presence for Sam Darnold and once that chemistry is down, they should mold well with each other. Mims compiled 186 receptions, 2,925 yards, 15.7 yards per catch, and 28 touchdowns in two years at Baylor. Mims is a rookie who offers massive upside but still must prove himself.
