Predicting all of the trades that will happen this year in the NFL Draft is an impossible task. Situations change every minute as players rise and fall, specifically in the first round. Now that the draft is officially online, it will be interesting to see how these trades work out. There is a chance we see the volume of trades reduce, but I hope this is not the case.

In this article, I will break down trades I think have a really good chance of going through. I am using a draft trade calculator to make sure these trades are as fair as possible. Trade #1 – Dolphins Get Their Guy

Detroit Lions receive – #5, #26

Miami Dolphins receive – #3

Whether it is the Dolphins or Chargers, all signs point to a trade for that #3 spot. Fortunately this allows the Lions to hold a bidding war between these two teams, and the Dolphins have the most capital. The more I hear about Justin Herbert, the more I believe the Dolphins prefer Tua Tagovailoa. A true win-win for the Lions as they move back, and probably snag their original guy in Jeff Okudah. This also gives them a chance to pick up another guy in the back end of the first round.

Trade #2 – LT 4 TB

Jacksonville Jaguars receive – #14, #45 (2nd), and #194 (6th)

Tampa Bay Buccaneers receive – #9

I tried to be creative for this in case Tom Brady needs inspiration for his next t-shirt. Signing Tom Brady in the off-season sped up and shrunk the Buccaneers title window to essentially the next two years. The best way to get the best out of Brady is make sure he stays upright. Standing pat at #14, the Bucs likely miss out on the big four OT prospects, so they need to move up now. The Jags sacrifice a top 10 pick to help jump start the rebuild.

Trade #3 – Jets Zoom Up

New York Jets receive – #7

Carolina Panthers receive – #11, #68 (3rd)

Instead of waiting around and hoping a tackle falls to them at 11, they are proactive and make it happen. Although they end up giving a 3rd, they will essentially have their pick of offensive tackles, in an extremely talented class. The Panthers make this move if Isaiah Simmons is off the board. No one really catches their eye and they believe moving back is the best course of action. At 11 they can either trade back again, or comfortably select Javon Kinlaw or Derrick Brown with another pick in the arsenal.

Trade #4 – 49ers Stockpile Builds

San Francisco 49ers receive – #49 (2nd), #102 (3rd), #124 (4th)

Pittsburgh Steelers receive – #31

Look, it is no secret that Ben Roethlisberger has injury questions. The Steelers have been rumored to be shopping around for a high level backup. Names such as Jameis Winston and Cam Newton have been thrown around, but what if they take one in the draft? Jalen Hurts has been flying up draft boards in recent weeks (something that I predicted would happen in January) ((not a big deal)). I think he is a perfect candidate for the Steelers, who would have been a playoff team if they had a halfway decent option at QB. The 49ers like it because it gives them a pick in rounds 2-4, something they were lacking.

Trade #5 – Dolphins Trade for Star

Miami Dolphins receive – Yannick Ngakoue

Jacksonville Jaguars receive – #19, #70 (3rd), #185 (6th)

If the Dolphins could draft a guy at 19 with Ngakoue’s abilities, they would do it. Part of the draft is a risk, and the Dolphins already hold a league lead in top 100 picks (6), so they can sacrifice some capital for a sure thing. If the star pass rusher was not so vocal in his distaste for the Jaguars organization, he may have gone for 2 1st rounders. But the Dolphins luck out on a 25 year old star in exchange for minimal damage.
