Ya hey we all know why you are here. So no foreplay lets just dive right in to everyone’s favorite series. Obviously to view all the plays you can visit my twitter page where I posted them. While you are there just give me a quick follow…or don’t it doesn’t really matter to me.

What I Saw

The Good: Stanford

  • Costello hanging tough in the pocket
  • Converting the turnovers they forced into points
  • Wide Receivers and Tight Ends making all the tough catches
  • Defense forcing some critical stops
  • Did above average running the ball in the second half
  • Took care of the ball

The Bad: Stanford

  • Did not control the line of scrimmage for most of the game
  • Allowed pressure vs 3 or 4 defenders
  • Play calling defensively was very suspect as they continually gave up chunk plays in off-man and zone coverage.
  • Did not respect Herbert as a runner

The Good: Oregon

  • Owned the line of scrimmage for most of the game
  • Controlled the pace of the game
  • Ran the ball very well
  • Herbert was amazing as both a passer and runner
  • Got pressure with 3 or 4 guys

The Bad: Oregon

  • Had some very bad turnovers that did cost them the game
  • Center repeatedly botched snaps
  • Could not put Stanford away up 17 or when they had the ball with less than a minute to go
  • Did not do the little things right defensively–such as chipping and rerouting the Wide Receivers and Tight Ends
  • Best players didn’t step up in ovetie

Summary

This was an absolute back breaker if you are Oregon. They had a Top 10 team on the ropes and could not put them away. No matter how the rest of the season goes, they will look back at this one wishing for another chance. At the end of the day those turnovers cost them. If you are Stanford, you just had one big sigh of relief. They won a game that they shouldn’t have. However, they did come out with the win and should only look forward because they have to play a Top 10 on the road in a few days.
