Week 9
Jacksonville, Florida: The World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party
Florida-Georgia might be the most fun rivalry in sports. Combining fans from both these fanbases in Jacksonville is the perfect way to encourage debauchery. Let’s say that Florida takes big strides under Dan Mullen. Georgia should be in pole position to win the SEC East by this time. The game could have huge implications. The atmosphere will be nuclear. The partying and tailgating will be even better. Gameday has to make this trip every year.
Honorable Mentions
Clemson @ Florida State
Willie Taggart could really make a statement with this one. Clemson probably isn’t done being one of the two best teams in the nation. Matter of fact, Clemson might just go ahead and be a top-1 team in the nation this year. The Tigers are gonna be on a tear until they get back to the Playoff. Clemson by a lot… welcome to the ACC, Willie.
Navy vs Notre Dame (San Diego)
Why the hell is this game in SD? There’s a huge military presence in San Diego and this game could end up doing really well in terms of attendance and exposure. Notre Dame has a bandwagon that stretches far and wide. San Diego probably misses football enough to come out for this one.
Week 10
Ann Arbor, Michigan: Penn State @ Michigan
The Big Ten East could come down to these two teams. The Big Ten East has been a battle the last three years, and this game has been one of the pivotal ones in the division race. The first Saturday in November could represent a huge turning point for both teams. Penn State will have already played Ohio State and Michigan State and will know whether or not they control their own destiny. Nonetheless, this is a must-win for both teams. ESPN is gonna have their hands full with the Big Ten East this season.
Honorable Mentions
Texas A&M @ Auburn
Two teams with big expectations. Two teams who will fall short of their expectations. The home team has never won in this short series. The defense should be the opposite of a concern for Auburn yet again. IF Auburn can take a step forward offensively, it could be a special year on the Plains. Auburn bucks the trend this year, wins at home.
Alabama @ LSU
“Truly a place where opponent’s dreams come to die” The only dreams that will die this weekend are Coach O’s dreams of being head coach at LSU. This could get ugly if Joe Burrow doesn’t live up to expectations. Real tough to beat Alabama when you can’t score points.
UCLA @ Oregon
Chip Kelly comes home! Oregon has shown that with a healthy Justin Herbert they can resemble a very good football team. UCLA probably won’t be anything to write home about. Regardless, this will get a ton of attention solely because Chip Kelly is back in the college coaching game and he’ll be seeing Autzen Stadium from the opposite sideline.
