Former NFL superstar WR Antonio Brown is back in the headlines by claiming he’s hanging up the cleats.
Antonio took to Twitter to announce the “news”.
“Is it time to walk away i done everything in the game ?!!”
Then followed up with:
“at this point the risk is greater than the reward thank you everyone who been apart of the journey i sincerely thank you for everything! life goes on 84!”
This is not the first (may not be the last) time Antonio Brown has gone to Twitter to announce his retirement. Once the experiment blew up in everyone’s face in his short stints in Oakland and Foxborough, he said on Twitter:
“Will not be playing in the @NFL anymore these owners can cancel deals do whatever they want at anytime we will see if the @NFLPA hold them accountable sad they can just void guarantees anytime going on 40m 2 months will see if they pay up !” Brown said on the morning of September 22nd 2019.
Take his word with a grain of salt. Last season he was still baiting teams to sign him by posting graphics of his stats and workout videos on his social media. Antonio Brown was even successful in gaining interest from contending teams like the Seahawks and Ravens.
If Brown ever does get the opportunity to return, he is still subject to NFL discipline after facing multiple legal allegations that could violate league rules. A violation would cause Brown to get suspended, which could drag teams interested in signing or convincing him away.
