Bracket Busters: The Crucial Matchups for Weekend 2

There is no excuse for your bracket to be in bad shape if you would have taken my advice. You would be sitting alright with 11/16 correct Sweet Sixteen teams, and a chance to get 6/8 correct Elite Eight teams, if everything goes accordingly. Let’s highlight the games that have the largest implications.

OREGON VS MICHIGAN

A real big matchup for my bracket tips off at 5:09 pm MST tonight. I have Oregon winning this game on paper, as well as in my bracket. However, I really don’t know if they can beat the buzzsaw that is the Michigan Wolverines right now. They have all of the momentum coming into this game, and it is starting to feel like UCONN all over again.

Pick- Michigan

Michigan will probably end up beating Oregon, and essentially screwing my bracket over.

PURDUE VS KANSAS

This is a big game, because I made it a big game. I picked Purdue over KU in my original bracket, and I’m picking the Boilermakers once again. I think Swanigan and Haas will dominate the Jayhawks down low, and come out of Kansas City with an upset.

Pick- Purdue

Frank Mason is soft anyways.

UCLA VS KENTUCKY

This is the best, known matchup this weekend, and it will be a doozy. UCLA is going to try and emulate what they did earlier in the season, and beat Kentucky in a shootout. UCLA won that December matchup 97-92. If they want similar results, UCLA must shoot lights out. I have Kentucky in my original bracket.

Pick- Kentucky

I think Kentucky wins this game behind a monster game from Malik Monk, and a solid game from De’Aaron Fox propels them over Lonzo and UCLA.

WEEKEND PREDICTION

My prediction for this weekend is a relatively good outcome. I picture Arizona, Gonzaga and UNC all moving on, and securing a solid spot in the ranks. I’m sitting tied for 8th within the Student Union group, and I should be in the top 4 if everything runs smoothly.

Will this happen? Probably not.

I will be praying at 5 pm tonight, if anyone would like to do the same. It would be in your best interest to get right with God before this weekend starts. Then, as it all unfolds, possibly commit sins in reaction to what takes place.
