Early this afternoon it was reported by Anthony Dasher of Rivals that the Georgia Bulldogs have dismissed Brenton Cox from the team. Cox, a former 5-star recruit to Athens, was arrested for a misdemeanor marajuana possession charge back in April, but it is unclear if his dismissal is related to this incident in any way.
The sophomore linebacker was able to amass 20 tackles, two tackles for loss, and one sack in his 2018 freshman season. Cox was expected to have a prominent role in the Bulldog defense in 2019 and his missing presence will likely be felt.
Kirby Smart has yet to comment on the dismissal. Stay tuned for more information on this developing story at Student Union Sports.
