After opting-out of the college football season on Monday, Shaun Wade announced live on ESPN’s SportsCenter that he will return for one more season at Ohio State.
This announcement comes in the wake of the Big Ten’s return to play starting October 24th. The Big Ten announced on August 11th that it was postponing all fall sports due to the COVID-19 pandemic with the plan to play in the spring.
After weeks of petitions and lawsuits, the Big Ten’s COP/C finally came to an agreement that it will move on with an abbreviated eight-game fall season, allowing the conference to compete for a National Championship.
Wade is the second Buckeye to announces his return after initially opting out of the season. Last night, Wyatt Davis posted on Twitter that he will be returning to Ohio State.
Many were considering Ohio State to be the odds on favorite to win the National Championship, slightly edging out the Clemson Tigers. With the return of their best cornerback and defensive lineman, they solidified their case.
Opting out on Monday wasn’t a shock with no season on the horizon, but Ohio State gets back their presumptive first-round locks ahead of the return to action.
