The Catwalk: Week 11’s Best and Worst Looks

Lilly Donahue | Indiana University

Still trying to reconcile the results of last week’s election? Give yourself a break with this wild weekend of football! We saw #2, #3, and #4 all fall unexpectedly, while the winner of the 2016 election, President-Elect Saban, led his team on yet another conquest. Many teams made military tributes this weekend, and all three of our top looks are America inspired. Therefore, this week’s rankings will be in American Flags (good) or Kim Jong Un’s faces (bad). Enjoy!

The Red, White, and Bluetiful

UW Military Blackout

Despite possibly eliminating themselves from the CFB playoff, the Huskies rocked some awesome all-black uniforms that each featured the name of a veteran associated with UW. This outstanding gesture was coupled with a damn good lookin’ uniform that did everything except create a Husky victory. Here’s a sad Jake Browning modeling the look:

5/5 American Flags (waving vigorously)

UCLA Face-full of Freedom

UCLA decided to go all out in their Veteran’s Day uniform, and made a military inspired jersey with an American flag facemask. I’ve never seen a look like this, but it is AWESOME. It would probably only work with something like the Flag, so don’t get any ideas @adidas. But kudos to UCLA for finding a cool way to honor vets!

4/5 American Flags

Louisville POWs

These uniforms were also worn by Miss. State last week, but did not make it onto this list due to their ugly helmets. Louisville remedied this by pairing the uniform with a sleek black lid to complete this meaningful tribute. POW, for those who may not know, stands for prisoner of war, and these heros deserve so much recognition for their service. A certain individual criticized these heros earlier this year, which I found repulsive, unlike these great uniforms!

6/5 American Flags (furiously waving)

Kim Jong Un-gly

Maryland Massacre

My guess here is the Maryland saw the writing on the wall and knew they were going to get the shit beaten out of them by OSU, so they wore uniforms that look like they’ve been soaked in blood. These look like a color-rush combined with a slasher film. Under Armour is usually pretty chill with their uniforms, but these are nasty.

4/5 Kimm Jong Uns

Syracuse Borange

Syracuse doesn’t get the hint, I guess. This is the second time we’ve had to talk about wearing a gray jersey when your colors are navy and orange, but they just don’t listen! This is super ugly, like Syracuse football in general. This must be a way to distract themselves from the fact that they’re basically irrelevant come basketball season, soooooo now.

3.5/5 Kim Jong Uns

Notre Lame

Now these take the ugly cake. Notre Dame’s traditional uniforms are some of the best in CFB, but what in the actual hell are these? In a failed attempt to mimic army green, ND created a look that looks like a jersey was dragged through mud and then had some medieval numbers slapped on it. The color reminds me of dog shit, and since that’s how ND has been playing this season, it looks like they hit the nail on the head. Also, fire Brin Kelly. The guy’s just a tool.

6/5 Kim Jong Uns (maybe even a little Kim Jong Il)
