We had a pretty eventful first week of the college basketball season. Maybe not full of Top 25 upsets, but there were still plenty of upsets and losses that shook those who follow this beautiful sport. Thoughts:
Looking at some results from this past week, Gonzaga showed that they are still one of the top teams in the nation after Drew Timme dropped a 37 piece on Texas in a Top 5 matchup in Spokane.
Even though Texas was on the road, Chris Beards new team didn’t look like it had a solid flow yet. Once they get that down, they should be a top ten team again. Until then they’re on the outside looking in.
After watching them play live in person, this Purdue team has all the makings for a fantastic team. They have depth, shooting, rebounding, and a star in Jaden Ivey. West Lafayette will be buzzing for this team all year long.
Seeing Virginia out after their loss to Navy in their home opener was an easy decision. What wasn’t was the teams listed 25-21. Things will figure themselves out here in a few weeks. But for now let’s just enjoy the basketball!
