This past weekend was one that should be celebrated as a national holiday as COLLEGE FOOTBALL IS BACK. Hopefully all your bets, and dartying were as successful as mine.
After the first weekend I realized a few things, Texas is still not back, the SEC is crazy good, and the Big Ten East may not be as good as the West.
While talking about the East I want to point out that only one team actually lost this weekend, and that team was Michigan. Though they did play a ranked opponent, they looked worse then dog poo. The offense looked terrible, the secondary wasn’t very fluent, and Harbaugh still looks like he has no idea what he’s doing. Penn State and Michigan State both had scares at home while the former had to go to overtime to finish App St., while the latter beat Utah State on a late touchdown. Now I don’t want this to seem like a recap of the weekend, but these are all teams that are ranked. I understand it’s the first weekend, but there’s no reason for these “top tier” programs to keep it this close.
Outside of Wisconsin and Ohio State, I don’t see a whole lot of talent out of the Big Ten this year.
Also a quick update: Texas is still not back, and I don’t expect the, to be back for quite sometime.
And finally the SEC looks AMAZING once again. Alabama looks like a cheat code with Tua at quarterback, their defense is still one of, if not the best in the nation, and Saban is still a dick that doesn’t seem to lose. Georgia steamrolled Austin Peay, LSU and new QB Joe Burrows absolutely rocked Miami, and Auburn beat Washington as the pac12ed their way to another L.
