Dylan Moses: 2021 NFL Draft Breakdown

Dylan Moses || Alabama Crimson Tide Linebacker || 2020 Highlights

Dylan Moses is the kind of guy offensive players don’t want to see in the hole. He’s not flashy, but he gets the job done. He was the leader of the Alabama defense that won the CFP this past season. He’ll be a really solid player in the NFL.

Stats

2017: 30 Tackles, 5.5 TFLs, 1.5 sacks, 1 INT, 1 FF

2018: 86 tackles, 10 TFLs, 3.5 sacks, 1 pass breakup, 1 FF

2020: 76 tackles, 6 TFLs, 1 sack, 1 INT, 3 pass breakups, 1 FF

Strengths

Moses is a great leader to have in the middle of your defense. He knows the game of football really well, which is why he always seems to be in the right spot against the run. He has a nose for the football, always getting in on tackles. Moses hardly ever misses a tackle one on one; the most surefire pure tackler in the draft. His angles are perfect 99% of the time.

Weaknesses

Moses is not the fastest player, which could be a problem with the amount of speed in today’s game. I’m not too worried about that because of his pursuit ability. He is also one of the worst cover linebackers in this class. Moses doesn’t seem to be in the right spots on zone coverage and grabs a lot when in man. Even though he’s a great run-stopper, he just doesn’t shed blocks the way you would expect him to. Moses doesn’t have the greatest motor and can be seen jogging around the field.

Scheme Fit: 4-3 MLB

He won’t fit well in very many schemes. The place he has his highest ceiling is in the center of the field.

Player Comparison: Zach Cunningham

Both are 6’3 240 and are stout against the run. Like Moses, Cunningham struggles in coverage most of the time.

Draft Prediction: New England Patriots (3/15)

He’s a great player for Bill Belichick to develop and possibly even start day one. I’m not sure if he’ll fall this far. They might have to get him in the first round.
