The 2022 number 1 recruit, Emoni Bates, has officially declared and committed to in-state powerhouse Michigan State. The 6’9″ Point Forward has a skill set that had every coach wanting his commitment.

Bates wingspan and ability to pull up from anywhere will give Tom Izzo a lot to work with. The only issue I can see him having difficulty with is the physicality aspect of the Big Ten. Seeing his body frame, he is quite scrawny. Of course is only 16 and there is still plenty of time for him to work on his body.

Per 24/7, the 5 listed on his recruiting list was as follows. DePaul, Florida State, Kentucky, Michigan, and Michigan State. I’m sure there were plenty of other schools that had offered him, because they would be ridiculous to not have.

With Mady Sissoko a center, and AJ Hoggard a guard (4* recruits) coming in for their 2020 class, Pierre Brooks a 4* shooting guard, and now Emoni Bates. It is an exciting time for Spartan fans moving forward.
