Let me tell you one reason to watch the Idaho Potato Bowl. The Pride of MACtion is on the line with Central Michigan taking the field and I refuse to believe they won’t show out for the greatest conference on earth. Also, the quarterback situation should be really fun and I truly believe it’ll be one of the more fun games of the bowl season to watch. Wyoming is a pretty solid team with a potential top draft pick in quarterback Josh Allen.
Wyoming has had an extremely disappointing year considering how Josh Allen was supposed to be a top draft pick the upcoming draft and absolutely tore it up last year. To be completely honest, I don’t keep up with Wyoming football because of obvious reasons (no one actually cares). But when looking up his stats this year, I’m so far away from the Josh Allen band wagon that it might as well have the mumps. The dude’s just tall. I watched highlights, and the dude’s tall as hell. That’s it. This year he was trash and I’m pretty mad because that was the only thing I cared about with Wyoming.
Wyoming’s offense has absolutely sucked as much as their starting quarterback. Their leading rusher averaged only 3.6 yards per rush and totaled 475 yards on the year. I don’t like to blame offensive linemen, but that’s on them as well. Gotta be better. Their leading receiver, Austin Conway, only had 520 yards. I’ll put that blame on Josh Allen. Their only big play threat comes from C.J. Johnson, a wide receiver who averages 17.3 yards per play. I wouldn’t be shocked if he was able to shake someone and break out a big play in the big bowl game.
You know who doesn’t suck? Shane Morris, the quarterback of CMU, former Michigan man turned into MACtion super star. Morris has balled out this year, throwing for 26 touchdowns and a shade under 3,000 yards. Leading Central Michigan to an 8-4 record.
He’s had a lot of help from his wide receivers, Mark Chapman, Corey Willis, and running back Jonathan Ward. The trio each had at least 40 receptions, and together they had 16 total receiving touchdowns. Also, Jonathan Ward rushed for 1,015 yards and 9 touchdowns, averaging 6 yards per rush. This offense should be fun to watch and I fully expect them to torch Wyoming.
Need one more reason to watch? The game’s played on blue turf. I don’t know about you, but I damn sure know I watch every time the bar shows that beautiful field at a ridiculous east coast time. So let’s all buckle up and get ready for a good ole fashion MACtion beat down in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl.
