Growing up a Kansas State fan, you find out very quickly that you DO NOT like Lawrence, Kansas. I had only driven through that horrific town one time before this Thanksgiving weekend. A lot of people in my family are KU fans, of basketball only 0f course, and we went and saw Oakland Golden Grizzlies take on the Dirty Birds of Kansas in Lawrence.
This was my first game at Allen Fieldhouse, and it was an ELECTRIC time. I wore K-State gear in there, chirped Bill Self, and even got a response from Perry Ellis on Instagram.
Our guy @jacob_allen19 had a message for Perry Ellis and Perry Ellis responded 😂https://t.co/GqAth6Reuu

The 60 year old never responded when I asked for the 2K game. This dude had the time to respond to my Instagram caption, and comment, but not the time to play me in 2K? What a tool.
Bottom line is, KU fans better be thankful for that place, because it is absolutely sacred. It was like walking into Wrigley, or walking into Cameron Indoor. The history, memories, and nostalgia involved with the school and building was crazy.
It was packed to the brim, on the Friday Night after Thanksgiving. That is when there are nearly no students, and it is a Holiday weekend. If only the boys from Manhattan were in the gym, there might have been an all out brawl. Me vs. Lawrence. Might it have been jealousy? No. It was just appreciation for something special.
Analysis on the Game
KU is good. Udoka Azubuike is a problem down low: 21 points, 10 rebounds in 20 minutes. The Sophomore 7’0 footer is an absolute beast down low. Oakland had no one who could touch him, and no one who could match the physicality of his game.

Thank god they didn’t show his airball at the very beginning of the game, and no one seems to have that highlight…
KU dropped 102 on Oakland, with an incredibly balanced, pass-first, efficient offense. Devonte’ Graham looks like a potential player of the year in the Big 12. He played 33 minutes, dropped 14 points, had 7 apples (assists), and had complete control of the offense.
Reactions
1) The Octagon of Doom is still better.
2) I can’t wait to go back with a purpose.
