We are 25% into the college football season. Hopefully, your favorite team is unbeaten, but in the case your team is underperforming and their chances to reach your ideal potential are already gone, I have the insight you need. Put away your biases and cheer for some guys who are going to be front and center this weekend. Here’s five guys who will dominate college football this weekend.
Jaxson Dart, Ole Miss QB
Dart has quietly had one of the best starts out of the QBs in the country this year. 1050 total yards, 9 total TDs, and only 1 INT. Last week against Georgia Tech he went 10-18 for 251 yards. An absurd line. This week, the Rebels goes to Tuscaloosa. Last time a ranked team went to Tuscaloosa, the starting QB had 349 yards and 3 TD. You can make the argument Ole Miss doesn’t have the caliber of receivers Texas does, but there’s enough talent on the outside and Kiffin is smart enough to set up a great game plan for Dart to execute.
Anthony Grant, Nebraska RB
This name should be familiar to the more involved college football fan. In 2022, Grant was a workhorse totaling 1000 yards rushing and receiving. He was beat out for the starting job by 2 running backs and was all the way down at 3rd on the depth chart. Well… both of the running backs ahead of him sustained season-ending injuries and Grant will be the leader in the backfield. Nebraska will have Louisiana Tech come to town this weekend. The Bulldogs are giving up 205 rushing yards a game. Expect Grant to have an impressive line in the box score this weekend.
Jayden de Laura, Arizona QB
This is one of my favorite quarterbacks in the country. Watching de Laura sling the ball around to his many talented wide receivers and tuck and run when necessary is fun. He is the quintessential college quarterback. In their first 3 games, de Laura has 912 passing yards, 8 TDs and an ugly 5 INTs. However, the Wildcats play their first conference game of the year against Stanford. Stanford is giving up 342 passing yards a game this year. This game is at 6:00 PM CST and deserves a few box score checks during the primetime games.
Jacob Kibodi, Louisiana RB
*Insert Shaq “I was unfamiliar with you game” meme here*. I pride myself on a vast knowledge of college football and this was a new name to me. Shame, shame, shame. Kibodi is averaging 8 yards a carry this year. That’s an absurd number. 26 carries, 211 yards. To this point, the Ragin’ Cajuns have 5 players with at least 10 carries, 4 of which have 17 or more. Their opponent, Buffalo, is giving up 229 rushing yards a game this year during their 0-3 start. I would love to see Kibodi get a 15-carry game to see what he can do.
Gage Larvadain, Miami (OH) WR
Had to save the best for last. Best is no exaggeration either. Larvadain leads the country in receiving yards with 432. A preposterous stat line of 17 catches, the 432, and 4 touchdowns on the season, the Southeastern Louisiana transfer should find some room to operate against Delaware State. He already has a 99 yarder and 79 yarder, and it wouldn’t surprise me to see Larvadain with another long touchdown Saturday afternoon.
