Along with his current domestic violence charges, Derrius Guice has been accused of rape by two former LSU students. The students claim that this happened during Guice’s freshman year at LSU in 2016.
According to USA Today multiple coaches were notified of the situation but did not appear to investigate either claim. Allegedly two coaches, an athletic administrator, and a nurse were notified at the time but no action was taken.
On August 7, the Washington Football Team released Guice after he had turned himself in on domestic violence charges. To say Derrius Guice is a long shot to return to the NFL would be generous. No NFL team should look his way because of the detrimental affect he could have on a franchise and would immediately be placed on the Commissioner Exempt list. To put it simply the bad outweighs the good by far.
If the allegations turn out to be true, LSU will receive a lot of necessary backlash on the matter due to the lack of attention brought to the important matter. It would be a serious issue that the school would have to address. Situations like this should never be swept under a rug, especially when previously reported to college administrators.
During the 2018 draft Guice was considered to have first round talent but slid to the second round due to character issues at LSU. So the allegations of the possible 2016 incident certainly align. Situations like this seems to be a common trend for Derrius who can’t seem to stay out of trouble either.
