Friday Fire: Karaoke Edition?

Well folks, the work week is finally over. Summer has officially started, we are less than 75 days away from both College Football and NFL, and best of all, it’s officially Lake/Beach/Pool SZN. It may be the dead period of sports, with only baseball and the NBA draft here to satisfy our needs, but that doesn’t mean we didn’t have any good stories this week. We got to see Kevin Knox’s life flash before his eyes, Baker Mayfield commit Murder on television, and we found out that Puma is back (while Texas is not).

So, for this weeks Friday Fire (which last week, Jacob Manley took over for me and killed it), I asked the boys in our Slack chat to give me their 2 songs for the week, and threw in a little twist as well. To keep it short, I was hanging out with my girlfriend (humble brag) and one of our “songs” came on and we both sang our hearts out like we were at karaoke night at an Applebee’s. So, I asked the fellas for their go-to karaoke song…

Only 4 people answered with Karaoke songs because people were arguing about Kyrie and his importance (?) I don’t know or care it was 7am my time and I had to mute my phone and didn’t give a single damn (go Lakers). So, I present the (kinda) Karaoke Friday Fire:

Liam:

Casino by Houndmouth / Karaoke: Blister in the Sun by The Violent Femmes.

Fun Fact: Blister in the Sun was the first song I ever learned how to play on the Guitar… it wasn’t great but I could still do it. As a Karaoke choice? A 10/10 pick and would bring the house down with it. Both excellent choices from the World’s Greatest Producer.

PJ:

Karaoke: Your Love by The Outfield / Kids See Ghosts by Kids See Ghosts / Fitzpleasure by alt-J

With Franklin “Apple Music DJ” Fanelli out of the States this week, we have PJ coming in hot with 3 great choices, Your Love is a classic and I’m pretty sure you’ve never heard it in full and just in snippets, and the other two tracks will cause head bobbing and/or goosebumps.

Patty:

29 #Strafford APTS – Bon Iver / OK, It’s Alright With Me – Eric Hutchinson / Karaoke: What A Fool Believes – Doobie Brothers / Drink Paint Remix

Patrick Takes coming in strong on this Friday with more chill and relaxed music of the playlist… until he goes full AWL on us with Drink Paint. Solid remix of the song and the other 3 pull it all back together to get this Friday started off on the right foot.

Johnny:

Lucid Dreams – Juice WRLD / I’ll be – Edwin McCain

No Karaoke choice for this round, but Johnny is always reliable for music choices. He can educate you on all the new school rap from Trippie Redd and XXXTenacion (RIP) all the way back to your parents favorite music choices. Great selection from the one and only Johnny Rambos.

Anthony:

The Spiteful Chant- Kendrick Lamar / Family Tradition- Hank Williams Jr

Ah good ole’ Anthony. My CoHost on The WalkOn’s (Watch out next week for our newest episode from our extended break) always loves to include a little Kendrick Lamar. Then a Little Hank Williams Jr. (Hot Take: Hank Williams Sr. is 100x better and would make a great Slot WR) can only make this Summer Friday great.

Tre:

$$$ by XXX / Adam and Eve by Nas

While I really never listened to X’s songs, I will admit he did have a few good ones, and $ is one of those. Throw Adam and Eve in with that song and you have more of a killer 1-2 punch of Rap songs than the whole movie of Creed (Come @ me I didn’t like the movie).

Andy:

Surrender by Cheap Trick / Bad Blood by Taylor Swift & Kendrick Lamar / Karaoke: Ain’t No Mountain High Enough by Martin Gaye

Before you judge me for the T-Swift song, I will have you know that I will 100% rock out to her music any day of the week. Surrender I have known ever since the Original Guitar Hero and love it and Ain’t No Mountain is just an all around great song to sing with anyone, anywhere.
