“We win one today, that’s two in a row. We win one tomorrow, that is called a winning streak. It has happened before.”

Pack Your Book Bags Fellow Students, We’re Going to The Ivy League

Welcome back fellow gamblers and occasional readers! We cashed yet another FFP last week with Siena catching 9 points and winning outright. Working on building another winning streak (Yes, it has happened before), let’s take a trip to the Edward Leede Arena in Hanover, NH where the Dartmouth Big Green host the Cornell Big Red. Tip-Off at 6:00 PM CT.

The Friday Free Play Matchup

The Big Red, led by Junior Guard Jordan Jones (11.3 PPG), take their 14-7 ATS record to Dartmouth where they’re trying to get back to their winning ways after losing to Brown at home 81-80 Saturday night. They’re taking on a Dartmouth squad that have lost three straight and are coming off a 45-point barnyard beating at the hands of Princeton. These two teams previously played on January 2nd with Cornell beating the Big Green by 8 at home. Dartmouth has been feisty at home with a 3-0-1 ATS record in their L4 but are also 0-4-1 after a loss of more than 20 points.

Since were going to “The Ivy”, it’s only fair that I wow you with some fancy analytics. Cornell likes to run and gun. Pluse they have an assault team of sharpshooters with 6 players shooting over 33% from 3. Led by Keller Boothby shooting 50% from 3, it doesn’t bode well for Dartmouth, giving up over 34% from the arc, ranking 219th in Opponent Team 3 Point %. If you were worried about defense, fear not my friend, as these 2 are within 2 rankings of each other in Defensive Efficiency rating (266/268). Generally, a slower paced team would be ok if they had an efficient offense, but that is not what we’re getting from the home team. Boasting a 272 ranked Offensive Efficiency rating with a sub 290 pace of play, points prove to be scarce for our host.

The Play

The Big Red have the faster style of play with a much more explosive offensive attack. With the edge in every offensive category besides FT%, if Cornell gets out to an early lead, it could prove to be too tall a task for Dartmouth. Dartmouth has proven to turn games into a rock fight, and home teams generally have the edge in dictating pace. I, honestly, just don’t see that happening given the lack of fan base and skill on the roster. Lean to the over and give me the short dog with the better weapons to get the W!

THE PICK: Cornell +1 (ML -105) (Official Friday Free Play Pick)
