On Thursday super star tight end,George Kittle, signed a 5 year extension worth $75 million with $30 million guaranteed at signing, per Ian Rapoport.

Kittle managed to secure the largest contract ever recorded for tight ends. The 49ers were able to lock up their best offensive weapon who still had one more year on his current contract. Clearly the 49ers didn’t want to waste anytime preventing Kittle from hitting the open market.

The past two seasons George Kittle has been undoubtedly a top 2 tight end in all of football. In 2018 Kittle had 88 receptions for 1,377 yards (most yards in a single season for TE) with 5 touchdowns. He followed that up in 2019 by catching 85 passes for 1,053 yards adding another 5 touchdowns. Also earning First team All-Pro in 2019 and Second team All-Pro honors in 2018.

The 49ers are trying to reach another Super Bowl after a heartbreaking loss in February, resigning Kittle is a step in the right direction. Kittle hasn’t only been beneficial to the 49ers in the passing game but also with his blocking abilities in the run game.

Following reports speculating Kittle’s new contract details and what day it would be announced, George thought twitter users were too gullible. George Kittle never specified what was incorrect so the contract extension can’t be a total surprise for 49er fans.
