Last season didn’t end exactly the way Virginia Tech had hoped it would, having to watch Miami go to the ACC Championship game and then losing to Oklahoma State in the Camping World Bowl. Not having enough weapons on offense to help freshman QB Josh Jackson seemed to be the problem. However, that is soon to change.
The Virginia Tech coaching staff has been recruiting HARD since Justin Fuente has become head coach. For the 2018 recruiting class, they signed eleven 4-star recruits and fourteen 3-star recruits, with five being in the ESPN top 300. One recruit in particular, 4-star QB Quincy Patterson, has the potential to be the next best quarterback in the ACC. And this summer they’ve already received a lot of commitments for the 2019 class. So far, they have received commitments from five 4 stars and nine 3 stars, with 3 being in the ESPN top 300. Also, other highly ranked recruits currently have VT in their top 5 offers.

Many of these recruits are WRs, ATHs, and RBs, which is exactly what the Hokies need to beef up their offense. You must hand it to Fuente and his assistant coaches for being able to recruit this well so far. It’ll be interesting to see if they can sign some more of these big-name recruits. For now, just be patient Hokie fans. The future is looking bright.
