While Russell Wilson and Kyler Murray were battling it out in Seattle, perhaps an even better game was taking place in Tulsa, Oklahoma. In a back-and-forth defensive battle, Tulane looked like it would come out with a win after a touchdown pass from Michael Pratt to Tyrick James gave the Green Wave a 21-14 lead with 1:38 left in the game. *Lee Corso voice* NOT SO FAST! As we learned from Murray’s Cardinals last week, it is never too late for a crazy ending.
With time expiring, Tulsa QB Davis Brin heaved up a prayer towards the end zone. That prayer was answered by WR JuanCarlos Santana as he leaped to make an incredible play. Brin, by the way, is the third-stringer for the Golden Hurricane.
Not quite DeAndre Hopkins level, but it’ll do. And Tulsa was not done there. After going to a second overtime, Tulane looked poised to head into the end zone for the lead. But instead, Zaven Collins picked off a pass at the four-yard line and took it 96 yards the other way for a Tulsa win.
What an absolutely ELECTRIC ending, one of the best we’ve ever seen! Also, what a rush for anyone that had Tulsa at -5.5, or even -6. You take a push from a game like that and count your blessings. The Golden Hurricane moves to a perfect 5-0 in conference play, keeping pace with those tough Cincinnati Bearcats. The two teams are set to meet on December 4th, get your popcorn ready.
