Happy holidays everyone and welcome to the most important day of the next week all across the southern United States: it’s early decision day. Top players all across the country will be making decisions on where they want to get an education for the next 4 years and maybe play a little football. Anyone reading this, please, for the love of God, do not ever under any circumstance tweet anything at a recruit. All that’s going to do is make you look like a dumbass, so please don’t, these are 17 year old kids.
Arguably, the most important commitment of today is 5 star offensive tackle Jackson Carman. Carman is 6’6 and 330 pounds and he’s from Fairfield, Ohio. He is the #1 OT in the country, the #1 player from Ohio, and the #9 player overall in the country. He is the ideal size for an OT, but surprisingly still looks lean and he moves very well. He is known for being a fantastic run blocker. I have seen multiple people hail him as the best OT from Ohio since hall-of-famer Orlando Pace, who went to Ohio State.
In the Urban Meyer era at Ohio State, he has kept many top Ohio recruits home to go to OSU, but that wasn’t the case here. Though Carman’s final 3 were Ohio State, Clemson, and USC, he informed Ohio State Wednesday morning that he would not be committing to OSU. Early this morning, crystal ball predictions were flowing in for Clemson, and they ended up being correct. Though his most recent visit was to USC, Coach Swinney must have made a good impact on him, because he’s still coming to Clemson. Clemson will be a good place for him to grow as a player, if he needs to. He has a possibility to start year one, and he will give a great run blocking option for dual threat QB Kelly Bryant to run behind. If he does not start this year, he will have a unique opportunity to run scout team against the best defensive line in the country. Whichever ends up happening, Carman will be a game changer for Clemson’s offense, which rarely can be said about o-lineman. I am sure he will be a difference maker because Carman is without a doubt a future All-American Clemson Tiger.
