Trevor Lawrence is going to look pretty good in teal and black. I can see it already, “The Jacksonville Jaguars have won their fifth straight Super Bowl behind the arm of Trevor Lawrence.” It’s not every day that a once in a generation talent just drops into your lap, but it is happening to the Jaguars.
You had one job, New York, one job! With the Jets’ latest win against the Los Angeles Rams, the Jets now drop to the second pick for the NFL Draft. Never, in a million years, did I think the Jets would win a football game this year, but Adam Gase and co. have shocked the world. The win, though, messes with the future of an already dysfunctional franchise.
I have a working theory that Adam Gase, knowing he’d be fired at the end of the year, is trying to screw with ownership. It makes no sense. This guy was so incompetent at the beginning of the year but just beat a division-leading Rams team.
If I’m the Jets I’m firing Gase tomorrow. The only reason I was keeping him was to lose out and he somehow failed at that.
Both teams, the Jets and Jags, now have a record of 1-13. The Jags, however, have the easier strength of schedule. This means the Jacksonville Jaguars possess the luxurious tiebreaker.
If the Jaguars lose out, which if you’ve watched their games recently, is very likely, they will have the honor of picking first in the 2021 draft.
They also have a GM vacancy, but that shouldn’t last long.
If this isn’t enticing, I don’t know what is. The Jaguars will likely have numerous candidates swarming to the small market team in order to control their future.
I’d like to be one of the first to welcome Trevor Lawrence to Duval.
