Who is Joop Plesec?

If you haven’t heard of Joop Plesec, I wouldn’t be surprised. The 5 foot-11 inch, 220 pound Senior running back from Grand Rapids, Michigan is currently a 0 star recruit. However, I believe he is going to be the next big thing in college football.

What makes Joop special?

Plesec isn’t the fastest player in the country by any means, but his heart and determination stems from the man he’s named after, his late great grandfather Joop Plesec. Known as “JP” to most, Joop was born in Friesland, Netherlands in 1921. As a 14 year-old, JP and his parents made the journey across the pond to America in 1935. They fled their homeland with the growing Nazi presence in the area, leaving behind many friends and family. Once they arrived in America, they found their way to Grand Rapids, Michigan, as many Dutch have.

JP followed in his father’s footsteps and maintained the family’s apple orchard through the 1990’s. The family business is currently in the hands of Joop’s father, Lars. Joop plans to take over the family business one day, but he fully intends to become the pride of not only Grand Rapids, but of his Dutch ancestors.

What to expect?

As I mentioned, Joop fuels his glaring lack in athletic abilities by using motivative tools. While I certainly don’t expect to see him become a highly touted 5 star recruit, I think Joop has the potential to blossom at a smaller school where he can perfect his craft. Joop will be one of the most talked about names especially as City High/Middle School is seeing their first high school football season in high school history. I’m sure that in a season that will most likely be disappointing, Joop can be the bright spot.
