One of the hottest rivalries in college sports is back (kinda). Missouri and Kansas have agreed to play in an exhibition game for hurricane relief on October 22nd. While this may just be an exhibition game, the fans of the two teams won’t see it that way. Being from the area, this is a huge deal. This exhibition may be the initial framework for a reinstallment of the rivalry. With the game being at the neutral site of the Sprint Center in Kansas City, the tickets will be divided evenly amonst the teams.
Kansas basketball goes into this season looking to continue their reign of dominance over the Big 12 while the current FBI investigation hangs over their heads. On the other side, this Mizzou basketball program is in for a quick turnaround with Cuonzo Martin coming to town. This exhibition game will be the first time we get to see the #1 recruit in the country, and potential first overall pick, Michael Porter Jr. play in a Tiger uniform.
The last time these two teams met was 2012, the last year Mizzou was in the Big 12 before leaving for the SEC. Kansas leads the all-time series 172-96, but it became much closer in recent years.
And of course, how could we talk about the Border War without the greatest rivalry video of all time?
