Kansas State university has indefinitely suspended Junior guard Amaad Wainright for a violation of the athletic department’s policy, presumably the part where it says “don’t get arrested by the U.S. Marshalls on possible felony charges.”

What did he do?

Oh, nothing too terribly awful, except be named as an involved other in a road rage shooting incident in Overland Park, Kansas.

The list of charges he could possibly be charged with include: criminal discharge of a firearm (in this case, a felony in Kansas), criminal damage to property (citation) and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon (felony… big time felony)

The incident occurred on January 17th when the passenger of Wainright’s car opened the door and fired at another vehicle in Overland Park. Police have yet to release more details of the crime.

Kansas State’s Athletic Director Gene Taylor said “We are aware of Amaad’s situation, and due to the seriousness of the charges he has been indefinitely suspended from our men’s basketball team per athletic department policy. We take matters such as these very seriously and will re-evaluate his status as we learn more information.”
