It took less than two months after winning the NBA Championship for the Los Angeles Lakers to extend Lebron James. On Tuesday it was reported by Lebron’s agent Rich Paul that Lebron and the Lakers have agreed to a two year, $85 million extension. This will keep the top player in the world in LA through at least the end of the 2022-23 season.
James, the 2020 NBA Finals MVP, just completed his second season with the Lakers by winning his fourth title. This may be the start of lining things up for Lebron James to attempt to play in the league with his son Bronny, who will graduate high school the year that this contract would end. We will see how things go for the Lakers, but based on their 2020 success and their moves this offseason, including the return of Anthony Davis, things are looking bright for the Lakers in 2021 and beyond.
