College football is back and after opening weekend we already have some big-time losers. Welcome to my new weekly article where I will be picking a “Loser of the Week” to commemorate the some of most pathetic performances and wildest upsets throughout the season.
This weeks loser is non-other than the once mighty Texas Longhorns.
I can’t think of a better way to kick off the college football season than Texas losing to a bad team, it’s almost tradition now. The Longhorns shut down all the “Texas is back” talk with an embarrassing loss in week one to Maryland for the second year in a row.
After falling to Maryland last season 51-41, you would think the longhorns would come out fired up and looking to destroy the Terrapins for embarrassing them last year…
nope.
This game had everything Iv’e come to expect from the Texas Longhorns, excess of penalties (10 penalties for 102 yards), critical turnovers, and poor offensive line play. Perhaps the most humiliating part of the game, the longhorns had three chances to take the lead late in the 4th quarter and turned it over on all three chances. Is that seat getting hot yet, Coach?
This loss has got to be hard to deal with for Texas fans. After a long off-season of hyping this team up in comment sections and making your little video edits, all just to start the season with a loss to Maryland, AGAIN. It’s finally that time of year again, when Longhorn fans go back into hiding and watch reruns of the 2006 Rose Bowl until the off-season comes and they can start the “Texas is back” hype-train again. College football is officially BACK!
