This weeks “Loser of the Week” features a tale of redemption, as the Texas Longhorns (inaugural “Loser of the Week” in week 1) marched into the Cotton Bowl on Saturday and beat the #7 Oklahoma Sooners 48-45. I sat down for this game looking forward to watching Texas stink it up and disappoint their fans all over again and trolling Texas fans on twitter, but in the end I was the one disappointed.
The game itself was electric, giving fans an abundance of offense and momentum swings throughout the course of the game. Unsurprisingly at this point, Kyler Murray put up video game numbers again, but what was surprising was Sam Ehlinger. The longhorn quarterback threw for 314 yards with 5 total touchdowns and, unlike Kyler Murray, did not turn the ball over. A lot of Ehlinger’s success could’ve been a result of the Oklahoma defense not even being able to stop a leaky faucet. The Oklahoma defense was as atrocious as its been all season, but when Kyler Murray coughs up the ball twice, it makes in near impossible for the Sooners to win.
I assume that Texas will fall back down to earth eventually, but until next week Texas is back…
