Minor League Baseball is officially back after a year loss due to COVID-19.
Minor league baseball is in full swing as of yesterday (May 4th), with both teams and players eager to get things started again after the world was shut down last year due to Covid-19. This comes after some rule changes and team affiliation changes as Major League Baseball took over the minor league landscape. Teams have been posting their rosters on social media and after a year-long wait, they will finally be ready to play ball.
Keeping Up With The Times
Of course, the world was shut down from the pandemic and that included minor league baseball in its entirety. There was speculation as to how Major League teams would get things started themselves as the 2020 season played out, and we saw games with no fans. It then transformed into letting in a certain capacity in with masks and strict guidelines for both players and fans alike. Minor League Baseball will follow in their footsteps as they try to adapt to the current times we live in as a society, with social distancing and masks.
After being shut down for an entire season, seeing Minor League Baseball come back in any form is a treat for both fans and players that missed that development time. It also helps the teams themselves and their communities as playing with fans at any capacity benefits the clubs that have to support themselves. It’s definitely better than what some prospects got with alternative training sites that were previously established, as this will be some of their first professional games.
Famaliriaty At The End
Yes, it will be different from what we’re used to seeing, but minor league baseball fans should rejoice that we’re getting a season at all. There will be fans cheering in the stands, there will be funny moments that keep it a family experience, and there will be prospects to watch in terms of their development. All of these things are experiences that fans and players alike missed and it will be brought back, even if it’s a little different.
Hopefully, as time rolls on, we will see Minor League Baseball get to what it once was before the pandemic and hopefully become stronger from it. No one should take the feel of going to an affordable minor league baseball experience for granted anymore and the situation could blossom into something beneficial to the game as it could generate more fans.
