The newly strong Big Ten Conference (B1G) is moving up in college hockey. The conference has had quite an impressive start to the season. They have 4 teams ranked in the latest USCHO top 20 poll. With the newbies to the conference, Notre Dame is leading them at a number 4 spot.

The Fighting Irish have moved up this season.

Notre Dame is NOT just a basketball school anymore. After going to the Frozen Four last season, they have continuously played well, even after losing some big-name players to the NHL. They haven’t stopped winning yet, after a B1G sweep last weekend against the Golden Gophers of Minnesota they moved to number 4 ranked in the USCHO poll. The Fighting Irish are proving that they’re a good team. Going 9-1-0 in the last ten games shows Notre Dame is moving up the ladder.

B1G is showing that they’re not a weak conference anymore,

The teams are all on the rise in the B1G conference. Michigan, Michigan St. and Penn State are all receiving votes as top teams. Ohio State is on a rise, going 7-2-1 in their last 10 games, an impressive feat for the Buckeyes of Ohio.

B1G hockey, is good hockey.

Lastly, the hockey that the B1G hockey conference is playing is a fast-paced, high scoring game. Different than the tough defensive games other conferences have, the conference is new and exciting, bringing goals and high-scoring games to college hockey. The Big 10 conference could bring some serious competition to the future of college hockey. With the support of the Big Ten Network, the conference will have more games on TV. The conference struggled at the beginning, but in recent years it’s become better and now it’s turning into a top team in the country. With Notre Dame joining the conference, they added a top team with a good history. The addition will make a rivalry in the future of the conference. In a sense, the conference is better and it’s continuing to improve.
