Brian Bresee, the No. 1 defensive lineman and the No. 1 overall recruit in the class of 2020, according to 24/7 Sports, has committed to Clemson. The Tigers beat out Alabama, Georgia, Michigan, Ohio State and Penn State. With Bresee’s commitment, Clemson now has the top-ranked recruiting class in the 2020 cycle. Bresee announced his commitment live with his family on CBS Sports HQ from Demascus High School.
The 6-foot-5, 290 pound Demascus, Md. native will hope to make an immediate impact for the Tigers, as they lose all four of their starters on the defensive line to the NFL. Three of them, Christian Wilkins, Clelin Ferrell and Dexter Lawrence were chosen in as 1st-round picks, with Austin Bryant following soon after in the 4th-round. Bresee will join former No. 1 recruit DE Xavier Thomas on a defensive line that keeps reloading year after year.
The Tigers have the No. 1 class now, but it has the chance to get even better as the year progresses. Top quarterback prospect D.J. Uiagalelei has chosen Clemson. The Tigers are considered favorites for 5-star Columbia, S.C. native DE Jordan Burch. Georgia native DE Myles Murphy also seems to be trending towards Clemson, and the Tigers are in the mix for others as well.
The 2020 class is shaping up to be Coach Dabo Swinney’s best ever. Swinney’s Tigers have never had a top-ranked recruiting class and have consistently dominated the ACC and won multiple national championships. Clemson is also coming off of a 2018 season where they became the first team to finish 15-0 in the modern era. Needless to say, the Tigers aren’t going anywhere anytime soon.
