Best Bets

Kyle Busch -175

This is a lot of juice to lay in a NASCAR race, but if there is anything that is certain, it is Kyle Busch winning in the truck series. Busch has won all six of the truck races he has entered over the past two seasons. At Charlotte he has finished in the top two positions in his last nine Charlotte races and has eight truck wins all time at Charlotte. He is the best driver in the field and has the best equipment. I would lay this heavy price with the expectation that he runs away with it. There aren’t a lot of things that are certain in NASCAR, but Kyle Busch dominating in the truck series at Charlotte seems to be one of them.

Johnny Sauter +1600

Throughout Kyle’s dominance in Charlotte the past few years, only one guy has been able to challenge him is Johnny Sauter. Sauter is the only driver besides Busch to win at Charlotte in the past three seasons. He finished in the top three at Charlotte every year between 2016-2018 and has led a lap in each of the past four races here. He finished 17th after some issues last season, but I expect him to contend this year. If you aren’t looking to lay the heavy price for Busch, Sauter is a solid pick that I would feel comfortable picking to finish in the top five.

Austin Hill +2000

I like Hill not because of his past Charlotte history (one top ten in three races), but rather because of his success in the series overall. He has finished top ten in both races this season and had 13 top tens with four wins last season. Hill is returning to the same ride as he has had the past two years and should be competitive, starting from the 5th position.

Others: Brett Moffitt +1600, Stewart Friesen +2500

DFS Picks

Kyle Busch ($15,000 on DraftKings) is the pick everyone is going to play, but like the Xfinity race last night, he will still be the best play. Sauter at $9,300 will be another fixture in my lineups. Chase Elliott ($13,000) is the second best driver in the field, but does not have enough truck experience for me to roster him. I will fade the public as he should get a massive amount of support, being maybe the most popular driver in the sport. John Hunter Nemechek should be able to earn a lot of place differential points starting from 38th, but his $14,000 price tag makes it virtually impossible to roster both him and Busch. I am going to side with Busch here. Matt Crafton, ($8,700), Ben Rhodes ($7,900), Stewart Friesen ($10,000), and Grant Enfinger ($9,000) should all have solid runs as well.

My Lineup: Busch ($15,000), Sauter ($9,300), Austin Hill ($8,300), Sheldon Creed ($8,100), Spencer Boyd ($4,800) and Angela Ruch ($4,500)

If rostering some of the high priced drivers, some sacrifices will have to be made at the bottom part of the lineup. I think Busch and Sauter will both finish top three with Hill in the top five and Creed circling around the top ten.
