Well, here we are… Week 8 has passed, and the Pac-12 has been officially eliminated from College Football Playoff contention. Hear me out, because there is no way a Pac-12 school even has a shot.

USC Trojans – (6-2)

USC… What do I have to say about USC’s performance Saturday night against Notre Dame?

Pitiful.

They WERE the only reasonable hope with a decent remaining schedule. Also, strength of schedule and the fact that they have potentially the number 1 overall pick could have been enough for the committee t0 put them in. Now, there is a negative chance that USC sneaks in, because their remaining schedule is not enough.

Remaining Schedule:

10/28 – @ ASU

11/4 – vs Arizona

11/11 – @ CU (Upset Alert)

11/18 – vs UCLA

Washington Huskies – (6-1)

The Huskies are most likely done, due to the fact that they lost to ASU two weekends ago. The committee will take any 1 loss team over them, unless your name is Washington State, and that right there is the issue. There MAY be a 2 loss team, with quality losses, that ends up snagging that 4th spot rather than a potential Pac-12 champion in Washington.

Remaining Schedule:

10/28 – vs UCLA

11/4 – vs Oregon

11/10 – @ #22 Stanford

11/18 – Utah

11/25 – vs #15 Washington State

Washington State Cougars – (7-1)

The Washington State Cougars have the most likely shot to get in: they must win out and win the Pac-12. It is unlikely, but there have been crazier things that have happened in the last month of college football. Their downfall is the same as the Huskies. Losing… excuse me, not just losing… GETTING PUMPED 37-3 TO A MEDIOCRE TEAM NORMALLY DOESN’T HELP YOUR CHANCES.

Remaining Schedule:

10/28 – @ Arizona (Upset Alert)

11/4 – vs Stanford

11/11 – @ Utah

11/25 – #12 Washington

Who?

Those are the teams battling for a spot in the CFP… That’s what the Pac-12 has… And if you bring up anyone else, that just proves to you how mediocre this conference is. Plain and simple. One will be knocked out immediately in the last week regardless. The odds are not in the favor of the Pac-12, and it’s a shame. The best QB conference in the country will not have a chance to showcase themselves before the draft.

Here’s a song dedicated to the Pac-12.
