On Sunday morning ThePlayersTribune.com posted a message from an anonymous group of Pac-12 players on their website. The Pac-12 players expressed their concerns and list their demands for the upcoming season. The professionally written document voices their uncertainties for safety, justice, and equity in collegiate sports.

Expressed issues go much deeper than just the pandemic and health complications Covid-19 presents. The article goes on to express concerns within the exploitation of players, the earnings devoted to executives, and treatment of black athletes.

Furthermore, the players want and have been consistently fighting for the ability to profit off their name, image, and likeness.

Generally, the anonymous players are demanding for:

  • Health & Safety Protections (Covid protections)
  • Protection of All Sports (Eliminate Excessive Expenditures)
  • End Racial Injustice in College Sports and Society
  • Economic Freedom & Equity

Notable Demands

Some notable demands include, medical insurance to cover six years after college athletics eligibility ends.

Another demand is a 50% distribution of “each sport’s total conference revenue evenly among athletes in their respective sports.”

Next, football players want the option to restore their eligibility if they declare early for the draft but are not selected.

Lastly, the Pac-12 players want “Player-approved health and safety standards enforced by a third party selected by players to address COVID-19, as well as serious injury, abuse and death.”

Not only are these Pac-12 players trying to raise awareness within their own conference, but within the ones across the country. This is why #WeAreUnited is common trend throughout the piece. A constant reminder to everyone, the players are in this together.

The message the Pac-12 players put out should be capable of bringing some kind of review to these important matters.
