Despite the New England Patriots initial plan of hosting 20% of their stadium’s capacity on July 14. Gillette Stadium officials announced today that no fans will be attending stadium events this September.
The stadium officials came to the conclusion after meeting with the Massachusetts Reopening Advisory Committee. Gillette Stadium officials will be in communication with Patriots’ season ticket holders regarding refunds.
“Gillette Stadium fully supports the state’s position and this decision in the interest of public safety. We would have welcomed the opportunity to host fans in August and September, but are hopeful to do so later in the season. We greatly appreciate the time and support the Massachusetts Reopening Advisory Board has provided throughout this process and respect their efforts as they continue to navigate the state’s phased reopening.” In a statement made on gillettestadium.com by Gillette Stadium officials.
Patriot fans will have to wait until October (subject to change) to physically see how the team fairs in the post Tom Brady era. However, Gillette Stadium said they will continue the necessary preparations in order to ensure the safety of everyone.
The Patriots are not the first team to announce new fan policies, and surely won’t be the last either. The defending Super Bowl champion Chiefs also announced earlier this week that they will be hosting fans at reduced capacity.
