CB Kendall Fuller
Prediction: Detroit Lions
When you look at Detroit’s roster, there are minimal holes. The one weakness, however, would probably be at cornerback. Season after season, Kendall Fuller proves that he’s one of the most underrated corners in the game. Last season, he totaled 79 tackles, 2 interceptions, and 9 pass breakups. His ability to come down in the run is a toughness that Dan Campbell has instilled with his team, and that makes him a great fit to play opposite of Cam Sutton.
OT Tyron Smith
Prediction: New England Patriots
It might seem surprising that Tyron Smith is still available, but his age and injury history play a major factor in why he hasn’t been signed yet. Aside from that though, he’s still one of the best tackles in the league when he’s on the field. Last season, he allowed only 1 sack and had a PFF grade of 83.8%. As of right now, the Patriots offensive line looks mediocre and seeing that they’ve seemingly struck out on big name wideouts, they have some money to play with to bring Smith in on a one year deal.
S Kamren Curl
Prediction: Green Bay Packers
In my first mock draft, I predicted that the Packers would draft safety Tyler Nubin. While I still think that’s a possibility, they should go out and sign Kamren Curl. Curl is remarkably efficient as he tallied 115 tackles and 5 pass breakups last season. The signing of Xavier McKinney was great, but adding Curl means you get a player that’s comfortable in the slot, in the box, and at high safety.
DE Chase Young
Prediction: Tennessee Titans
Had this been last offseason, Chase Young would’ve been one of the first players signed and it would’ve been on a big contract. Now, after seeing his effort, or should I say lack of, and his unproductive play in the playoffs, he’ll most likely be signed to a one to two year deal with low guaranteed money, but higher incentive-based money. Tennessee has Harold Landry III, a good pass rusher, but no one opposite him that poses a threat. Young, if he changes his lazy ways, could create a nice pass rushing duo with Landry in Nashville.
IOL Kevin Zeitler
Prediction: Minnesota Vikings
Kevin Zeitler’s longevity can be attributed to the fact that he’s consistent. Whether it’s in the run or pass game, Zeitler is consistently one of the most fundamentally sound players in the league. It’s still up in the air if Minnesota is going to re-sign Dalton Risner, and if they don’t, they need a player at right guard to solidify their offensive line. The Vikings could give him a one year deal with lower guaranteed money, but high with incentives.
LB Devin White
Prediction: Philadelphia Eagles
The Eagles biggest need, after addressing their need at running back, is linebacker. With Devin White, a versatile and athletic player, still available, they should be looking to sign him to add to their front seven. Last season he made 83 tackles, 2.5 sacks and 2 interceptions. His ability to cover tight ends and fill on run plays makes him a weapon on multiple downs.
WR Curtis Samuel
Prediction: Jacksonville Jaguars
Losing Calvin Ridley hurts, but the Jags did sign Gabe Davis, an absolute dog, to replace him. With a quarterback like Lawrence, who has immense talent, Jacksonville should be looking to surround him with more weapons. Curtis Samuel is an awesome deep ball player and would create a nearly unstoppable receiving core with himself, Davis, and Christian Kirk. Seeing that he caught 62 balls for 613 yards and 4 touchdowns with a carousel of quarterbacks this past season only means he’d thrive with Lawrence getting him the ball.
OLB D.J. Wonnum
Prediction: Baltimore Ravens
One of the unsung heroes of the Vikings defense last season was pass rusher D.J. Wonnum. With 8 sacks and 62 tackles last season, he proved to be an awesome second fiddle to Danielle Hunter. Along with his high productivity, he’s only 26 years old. It doesn’t seem like Baltimore is bringing Clowney back due to his age and contract, and a great player to replace him would be Wonnum. As a Vikings fan, I’d hate to see him go, but his asking price might be too high.
RB A.J. Dillon
Prediction: Dallas Cowboys
With the signing of Josh Jacobs, it seems like Green Bay wants an entirely new look in their running back room. That means that A.J. Dillon won’t be back in green and yellow. One of the teams most active in the running back free agency pool, but has yet to land one, are the Dallas Cowboys. Dillon is definitely in their price range and he’d add toughness and hard-nosed running that the Cowboys haven’t had since Ezekiel Elliot was in his prime.
QB Ryan Tannehill
Prediction: Denver Broncos
Seeing that Russell Wilson is gone, it’s safe to say that the Russ experience didn’t work out in Denver. As of right now, it looks like Jarrett Stidham will be the Broncos starter which is less than ideal. With that being their quarterback situation, it feels like Denver will go after a quarterback in the draft, but they need someone to bridge the gap and I think Ryan Tannehill would be a good fit. He’s still got a big arm to hit guys like Sutton and Patrick on the outside and he has a great veteran presence. The only issue is could they get him for cheap?
