Reggie Lynch, reigning Big 10 Defensive Player of the Year and starting center for the Minnesota Golden Gophers basketball team, is again facing multiple allegations of sexual assault and misconduct. Earlier this month, news broke in a story from StarTribune that Lynch was facing allegations from two separate women of sexual assault. The first allegation is in reference to an event that occurred in April of 2016 in his apartment. The University had been investigating the allegation and Lynch was facing a banishment from the campus until the year 2020, barring an appeals process. A second allegation arose in May of the same year, but was not investigated due to a lack of evidence.
Despite the suspension from school and the impending investigation, this report surfaced today.

This puts Pitino’s name firmly into a very controversial spot, which is a place the Pitino name has found itself consistently throughout this season so far. Considering the state of the investigation within the University, Pitino most likely had knowledge of the situation and the allegations against his player, as well as the impending suspension.
Today, in another report from StarTribune, a third woman came forward alleging sexual assault occurring also in April of 2017. This marks the third allegation against Lynch within a three month span in 2016.
His playing career is most likely over considering this is his final season of eligibility, but additionally, the University is suggesting expulsion in wake of the most recent allegation.
