The New Orleans Saints and super star running back Alvin Kamara have come to an agreement on a contract extension keeping the All-Pro in NOLA. The extension is for five more seasons with up to $75 million and $34 million guaranteed. The deal will tie him to the franchise for the next six seasons.
Kamara is coming off a 2019 season in which he was selected to the Pro Bowl and ran for 797 yards along with 6 total touchdowns and caught 81 passes for the third straight year. Alvin Kamara was limited to 14 games due to knee and ankle injuries that followed him the whole year and showed in games he didn’t sit out.
Since entering the NFL in 2017, Kamara hasn’t missed a Pro Bowl and was a a second-team All-Pro in 2017. Since joining the Saints they’ve also made the playoffs all three seasons but lost all in heartbreaking fashion.
Despite the way the past three seasons have gone in NOLA, the Saints have had a busy offseason. This offseason they brought in veterans such as Malcom Jenkins & Emmanuel Sanders as ways to improve both sides of the ball.
New Orleans Super Bowl window will usually always be open as long as Brees is under center, but with this potentially being his last season they have to make the most of it. This extension certainly helps with those Super Bowl aspirations.
