SEC Fallout: The Butch Jones and Brett Bielema Story

From head coaches to..well we’re still not entirely sure. Bret Bielema and Butch Jones were both coaches in the SEC just last year and now they have mostly disappeared from the public eye. Butch Jones is now making a killing… 35k a year to be a analyst for Nick Saban at Alabama. I mean damn, that’s more than I make. Bret Bielema was hired as a consultant under supreme leader Belichick in New England.  It amazes me how these guys went to go work for the two best coaches in football, but the thing is, they aren’t even coaching. Bielema and Jones both spent their last five seasons coaching in the SEC. They did play one game against each other in 2015, a game in which the Razorbacks beat the Volunteers. Hey, put your hands up if you got fired in the SEC!

Records

Bielema went had an outstanding record of 29-34 in his 5 years. For Bielema, the decision he made in leaving Wisconsin has to haunt him. In seven years there he went 68-24. Hmm.. maybe SEC teams don’t always have better talent than teams in the Big Ten. Butch Jones, at Tennessee, went 34-27; not too bad, but those crazy Knoxvillians will persecute a coach in a second. How puny is that? He did go 50-27 combined at his previous two stops in Cincinnati and Central Michigan. Both coaches did win bowl games at their respected schools, but just couldn’t provide what those tough fan bases wanted. This isn’t the first time coaches have failed miserably in the SEC…

and then go learn under a certain guy by the name of Nick Saban.

It has to be demoralizing for both Bielema and Jones to have to go revive their careers around other coaches who have been much more successful. A reason these guys got fired was because of Nick Saban. So question for all of you StudentU fans, would you rather be working for Bill Belichick or Nick Saban? Let me know what you guys think by tweeting at me and StudentU.  Look at some of my other articles!
