On Thursday morning, several NFL teams decided to call off scheduled practices for the day. The Cardinals, Colts, Jets,Washington Football Team, Titans, Bears, Broncos, Chargers and Packers were the teams that announced their practices wouldn’t be taking place so far.
Both Washington and Indianapolis announced on Thursday that they rather spend the day discussing change towards the social justice issues. Both teams came out with public statements after the decision was made final.
Following the actions of NBA players on Wednesday opting to postpone playoff games sent a message throughout the sports world. The Milwaukee Bucks sparked the movement when they decided they were not going to play until they started to see real change everyone has been wanting. These aren’t meaningless games either so the players knew they were sacrificing but did it for the greater good.
After what the Bucks did in order to protest, the MLB and soccer leagues decided to not play their games. The NFL now joins the movement which is to bring light to the shooting in Kenosha, Wisconsin that saw Jacob Blake get shot seven times by a police officer. Not only does the movement hopefully bring light to that situation but social injustices all over.
The Milwaukee Bucks deserve to be more than just applauded for the spark they created on Wednesday.
