Student Union CFB Preview: Nebraska

You’ve seen it in every single publication by now, but Scott Frost has returned to lead his beloved alma mater. After not being able to get over the hump with Pelini and being god awful with Mike Riley, the Huskers decided to name a former UNL legend and 2017 “National Championship” winning coach Scott Frost as the next leader of the program, hoping to recapture the magic from when they were among the best of the best.

Things won’t come easy in year one for Frost though. In addition to having a new quarterback, likely in the form of true freshman Adrian Martinez, this was going to be a rebuilding project anyways. Things get even worse though as Nebraska will have to play six of the top seven teams in the Big Ten, with five of those games being on the road.

Prestige Rating (If NCAA Football Still Existed): 5 Stars

Key Losses: QB Tanner Lee

lol jk.

The real answer here is probably LB Chris Weber who led the team in both tackles (95) and tackles for loss (8), as well as being second on the team in pass breakups (5).

Five Year Recruiting Rank (Bill Connelly): 25

Alcohol Prediction for Fans by Season’s End: 20 Year Aged Scotch

The hometown boy Scott Frost returns to Lincoln 20 years after winning a national championship with the Huskers. Regardless of what happens this season, Frost will still be the talk of the town.

The Tyrell Smoochie-Wallace All Name Team: Freedom Akinmoladun

I mean, the guy is named Freedom, c’mon.

Outlook

Despite returning 15 starters, the 2018 schedule won’t do any favors for the Huskers. I believe that Adrian Martinez will end up being a promising quarterback for this program, but it may not happen right away. While it will be an uphill battle for this team to even sniff a bowl game, 2019 is the year that Husker fans should be looking forward to.
