Sometimes amazing players are overlooked by College Basketball fans simply due to the fact that they aren’t a part of a notable program and Wake Forest’s John Collins is a prime example of this. To be fair, John Collins isn’t really a name that stands out. In fact their are 6,275 people in the United States that share the name John Collins (thank you Internet). However, Wake Forest’s Sophomore Forward is most certainly not your typical average joe….In fact, he is nothing short of exceptional. He has averaged 19 points and 10 rebounds per game this season and is projected to be drafted in the first round of the NBA Draft.
John Collins 100 percent backed up the hype tonight in the Demon Deacon’s huge conference win against No.9 Louisville. Collins came out playing like he had something to prove and completely took over the game in the Demon Deacon’s 88-81 triumph. He finished with 25 points and 11 rebounds, making him the ACC leader in 20 point, 10 rebound games this season. This was also Collin’s 12th straight game scoring over 20 points and put any of his doubters to rest. What makes him so exceptional is the value his efforts have added to this Wake Forest team. While chances for this team to make the tournament were looking pretty slim, John Collins led his team to a win and has people wondering if the Demon Deacons deserve to go dancing this month. Anything is a possibility this year, this game was a prime example of that, and now that it’s March…the madness has absolutely commenced.
