We are only one game in to the First Four and the Madness is well underway. If you watched the First Four opener between Mt. Saint Mary’s and New Orleans, then junior guard Junior Robinson certainly caught your attention. Standing at 5’5″ and playing for a small school like Mt. Saint Mary’s its not hard to see how a player like Robinson could have been overlooked in the past…but Junior knew that the national spotlight was on him tonight and he made sure to show out. Robinson finished with 23 points. 2 rebounds and 3 assists in Mt. Saint Mary’s 67-66 win over New Orleans. This was a major win as it grants the Mountaineers a spot as the 16th team in the East region at the Big Dance.
Robinson is certainly going to be an exciting player to keep an eye on in Mt. Saint Mary’s first round matchup against Villanova. The most amazing thing about this guy is the fact that he is only 5’5″…In fact, he’s the shortest player in the whole tournament. What he lacks in size he makes up for in athletic ability…most noticeably his hops. For a borderline midget, this man can absolutely jam. It honestly looks like you are watching a video game when you see how freakishly high he gets before throwing one down. I could write about this guy for days, but honestly I’m just going to have to show you the tape to fully convey what a freak Junior Robinson is.
Junior Robinson with the first #ONIONS of March Madness. What a performance from the 5-foot-5 guard. Fun opening game here. #MountMayhem pic.twitter.com/HA2ql8nuX9
