With most major upsets averted up to this point, the Elite Eight of the Student Union 64-team playoff is down to the big boys. The SEC has a chance at three spots in the Final Four, which would in real life make a lot of people #MadOnline. Notre Dame is the biggest underdog left remaining, which is to say that there isn’t really an underdog remaining. Here’s the bracket up to this point and the results of our regional finals.
The Pac 12 falls short of the Final Four and the Sooners are our first regional champion.
Kind of an ugly one here as both Trace McSorely and Jalen Hurts toss two interceptions. Calvin Ridley: 6 catches, 140 yards.
The Fighting Irish finish off the top two seeds in their region and do it here against Auburn easily. Tables are turning on the SEC.
The SEC truly dropped the ball on the one-yard line going into the end zone.
With a Final Four of Oklahoma, Penn State, Notre Dame and Ohio State, the entire South is on the hot seat. Notre Dame is officially the underdog as the only team not seeded below three and the only team that didn’t make a New Years Six bowl in real life football this season. While the SEC has two teams in the real CFP and the ACC has one, neither is represented here. The Pac 12 continues its very good bowl season on paper and on the field by not placing a team in the final four, just like the actual CFP.
The tournament winds down with the semifinal games Friday before culminating with the championship game Monday Jan. 8th. Past links can be found below.
