I have had some time to stew a bit over the loss last night, and goddamn it has not gotten any better. I have documented fairly well my loyalty to Temple and my desire for the excitement about football on campus to be back to the previous two years, even going so as far to pick them against Notre Dame in the opening game of the season. But, that hope and loyalty is officially decimated after two bad showings against subpar teams and a historically bad performance last night against USF.
This is a real stat from a real football game. An important thing to note is that Temple’s starting quarterback did not have a single interception entering this game. Then, he threw one in the first quarter. Then more happened. This game gave my eyes cancer.
Everything about this team is really bad and I want to say that publicly. Watching this game with fellow students had the room in an air of complete confusion. Every time the team stepped on the field in the second half, there was a different quarterback under center. They played a total of three, we know a fourth, and I saw two others on the sidelines during the broadcast. They dress like six quarterbacks. I have never seen that ever really. Especially when three play and one has hopes to be decent at some point in his career.
I am shocked, appalled and disappointed by this football team. Some things to be noted: they are coached by a first-time head coach in Geoff Collins and have an extremely young
roster featuring one of the best recruiting classes in the history of the school. This season, that does not matter, though. This is a lost season. They are the worst offense I have ever seen. I said that numerous times last night and received a response of “see: Cincinnati Bengals,” and like, yeah, the Bengals suck, but this Temple offense makes them look like the Patriots. I publicly apologize for my idiocy regarding Temple loyalty and advise you to not watch a minute of Temple football for the remainder of the season.
