We started off last night with a win on the Liberty and Jacksonville State under. It was an easy play and it wasn’t even close. Now puts us at 1-0 on the week and 16-11 (+4.93u) on my best bets. We’re sitting at 59.2% on these best bets and I’m now 4-1 in my last five bets as well. With another day of football games, I got another free best bet that’s ready to cash. As a matter of fact, I have a double play in this one game and with that being said here is my best bet for October 11th’s slate of college football.
UTEP vs FIU (-2) (O/U 44) 7:30 PM EST
This Wednesday night battle in the C-USA is going to be an interesting one. We’ve got two bad offenses going toe to toe with one another in a battle of who’s going to get out of the cellar in the conference. The UTEP Miners have struggled offensively this season. They average only 16.2 points per game and are horrendous in the passing game as they average under 200 passing yards per game. Too many injuries at quarterback has made this a run-heavy team this year. The Miners average 158.8 rushing yards per game and if that running game gets going against a bad FIU run defense, they can have success this week.
On the defensive side of the ball for UTEP, they are good against the pass as they are only allowing 193.5 passing yards per game. However, they struggle against the run. They allow 191.7 rushing yards per game which is ranked 224th in the country. The Miners defense also allows opponents to convert on 45.6% of their third down attempts and give up 28.2 points per game. This Miners defense is going to have to step up in a road game which has been a struggle for them this year.
Florida International Panthers
FIU offensively barely averages 20.7 points per game, but they have success throwing the football. They average 222.7 passing yards per game while their rushing attack averages a measly 107.5 rushing yards per game. Their big name receiver is Kris Mitchell and that’s who UTEP is going to have to key in on stopping in this matchup.
Defensively, the Panthers are horrendous at stopping the run. They give up over 200 rushing yards per game and are one of the worst in the country in total yards allowed per game as well. FIU’s defense has been good at home, however. Minus the Liberty game where they rushed for over 300 rushing yards against the Panthers defense, FIU has won two out of their three home games including one over North Texas where they had over 540 total yards. This is one of the worst defenses in the country but this week they are going to look good against this bad UTEP team.
Betting Trends
-UTEP is 1-5 ATS in their six games in 2023.
-UTEP unders are 4-2 this season.
-FIU is 5-13 straight up in their last 18 home games.
-FIU unders are 4-2 this season.
The Don’s Best Bet
I am taking FIU -2 -110 and the under 44 for one unit each. The Miners have inconsistencies at quarterbacks due to injuries. However, the success against FIU’s run defense, which is one of the worst in the country, will influence a ton of the public. I think both offenses are bad and this is an easy double winner. Ride the Miami Vice jerseys and the under in this Wednesday night showdown.
