The greatest series you are not currently watching is available only on YouTube. The Season: Ole Miss Baseball provides intermittent updates on the Ole Miss Baseball team (hence the title) but in a format not unlike HBO’s iconic Hard Knocks series. A camera crew follows the team both on and off the field, and offers insight to the life of a Division 1 baseball team.
The camaraderie forged by spending countless hours together every day was on display during a rain out featured in the first episode of the current season.
This is what college athletics is all about, enjoying the time spent with your best friends, your family. For those that have not been lucky enough to experience this, The Season allows an inside look into the life that we lead. Now, my experiences at UAlbany, a mid-major D1 school, are vastly different than the athletes at Ole Miss. We do not get the type of fancy locker rooms or pre-game spreads that they do, and we took a plane for just one series this year, a cross-country flight to Seattle. But, our experiences are still so similar. We endure the long bus rides, made much better thanks to good company and good movies, we compete with and against each other every single day for most of the calendar year.
Coming back off that brief tangent, much like Hard Knocks, The Season offers an unprecedented look into a student-athlete’s life. My favorite part of the series is any type of feature on one of the players. A separate addition to the series is the popular On the Farm series, following a former Rebel now journeying through the minor leagues.
Errol Robinson, the charismatic shortstop who augmented his fame through the popular YouTube series, was the subject of this season’s focus. Fans of the series will recognize Robinson’s friendliness as he greets clubhouse personnel, and interacts with teammates and opponents on the field.
Really, I cannot endorse this series enough. The Season is skillfully engineered, and the players will quickly rise to the top of your favorites to follow. The Season: Ole Miss Baseball is a must-watch for any college sports fan.
